Most prominent virtual classroom platforms will typically allow videos to be loaded directly into the platform. For example, WebEx allows WMV videos to be loaded directly into and streamed from the platform, while Adobe Connect allows MP4s to be loaded and streamed. However, Blanchard typically doesn’t use this feature as we haven’t had the best results in the past due to the balance between video quality and the limited bandwidth available for certain individuals to stream video content.
We recommend using a streaming media provider capable of adaptive bitrate streaming. This technology allows for individuals with more bandwidth to receive higher-quality video streams, while limiting the quality of video for individuals with less bandwidth to minimize video buffering which can slow down a virtual classroom experience.
Some virtual classrooms may provide methods to tie into these providers directly, while other solutions can include simply pasting a private link to video from the streaming media provider into a virtual classroom's chat feature.
